iTero(R) Intraoral Scanner Now Compatible With E4D(R) Restorative System

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/30/13 -- Align Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALGN) today announced that its iTero Intraoral Scanner is now compatible with the E4D CAD CAM chairside design and milling system, created by E4D Technologies and exclusively distributed by Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC). This new workflow allows iTero clinicians to expand their menu of digital services to include same-day crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and veneers, creating more opportunities to establish full-scale milling installations for the benefit of the practice and the patient.

"Connecting the iTero system to E4D's milling system is more than just an added function -- it extends the utility of the iTero system to offer restorations in a single visit," said Timothy A. Mack, Align vice president, business development. "iTero is quickly becoming the point of origin of many procedures. iTero is the only scanner that offers certified connectivity with a milling system, a milled model service and of course, with Invisalign®."

The E4D design and milling system is integrated directly into the iTero chairside milling workflow. This digital workflow allows the clinician to move seamlessly between the two systems during the course of the day. The E4D system is indicated for crowns, 3/4 crowns, veneers and bridges as well as inlays and onlays.

"The E4D system features plug-and-play convenience, based on an open architecture and intuitive, easy-to-understand digital design tools, making it a perfect counterpart to the iTero Intraoral Scanner," said Dr. Gary Severance, E4D Technologies chief marketing officer. "E4D's material options include selections from leading manufacturers of composite, leucite-reinforced glass ceramics and high-strength lithium disilicate ceramics, and the robust E4D mill is manufactured to withstand the physical demands of high-speed milling, while providing accuracy, precision and reduced noise and vibrations."

iTero certified connectivity with the E4D system facilitates a digital workflow that is verified and supported by both manufacturers. Like every aspect of the iTero Intraoral Scanner, the digital workflow with E4D has been engineered for the user to master quickly, yet is powerful enough to meet the needs of the dental practice. iTero and E4D certified connectivity is now available for all iTero scanners.
