Align Technology Offers New Supporting Products For Invisalign®

Align Technology Offers New Supporting Products For Invisalign<font size=-1>®</font> Santa Clara, Calif. --February 13, 2002--Align Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: ALGN), the inventor of the Invisalign® System, a proprietary method of straightening teeth without wires and brackets, today introduced three new product kits to assist Invisalign-certified doctors and their patients with treatment -- Invisalign Pontic System, Invisalign Interproximal Reduction (IPR) Starter kit, and Invisalign Cleaning System. The kits consist of unique and innovative new products designed to help Invisalign practitioners deliver more effective and efficient orthodontic treatment. Invisalign is the first nearly invisible, removable, and comfortable dental appliance that effectively straightens teeth without wires and brackets.

The Invisalign Pontic System allows doctors to easily fabricate an aesthetic plastic tooth inside each Aligner for patients who are missing teeth and/or require tooth extractions for their orthodontic treatment. The concept of implementing a pontic was published in 1994 by Essix pioneer, Dr. Jack Sheridan. The Invisalign Pontic System uses a patent-pending polyvinylsiloxane (PVS) and adhesive material to produce a bonded pontic that matches the shade of most natural teeth. The pontics are strong, flexible, and highly recommended for patients who do not want a visible gap. The kit includes enough material to fabricate approximately 150 pontics.

The next kit introduced is the Invisalign IPR Starter Kit for Interproximal Reduction containing patented and patent-pending instruments that allow tooth reshaping to take place with extremely high precision and accuracy. Interproximal Reduction (also called "air-rotor stripping" or "ARS") is the process of reshaping the teeth to facilitate the correction of dental crowding. Included in the kit are industry-standard materials also developed by Dr. Jack Sheridan. Raintree Essix, Inc., a Louisiana company, is distributing the IPR Kit.

The Invisalign Cleaning System uses a patent-pending electronic Aligner cleaning unit along with special cleaning tablets to help patients clean their Aligners more effectively at home. The cleaning unit itself is compact, easy to use, and features a sleek, elegant design. The Invisalign Cleaning System is available to patients through their certified doctor.

"Our continuing goal at Align Technology is to make treatment with Invisalign as effective, efficient, and convenient as possible for our practitioners and their patients." said Dr. Eric Kuo, director of product development at Align Technology. "The introduction of these new products is consistent with this goal and should further improve the overall treatment experience with the Invisalign System."

The kits are now available through Align Technology's sales representatives or by calling customer support at 1-800-INVISIBLE. Pricing and information on these products and information on Invisalign is available at www.invisalign.com.

About Align Technology, Inc.

Align Technology designs, manufactures and markets Invisalign, a proprietary method for treating malocclusion, or the misalignment of teeth. Invisalign corrects malocclusion using a series of clear, comfortable and removable appliances that gently move teeth to a desired final position. Because it does not rely on the use of metal or ceramic brackets and wires, Invisalign significantly reduces aesthetic and other limitations associated with braces. Invisalign is appropriate for treating adults and older teens. Align Technology was founded in March 1997 and received FDA clearance to market Invisalign in 1998.
