SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/28/14 --
Align Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALGN) today expanded chairside CAD/CAM workflow options for the iTero® intraoral scanner by announcing connectivity to IOS Technologies Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Glidewell Laboratories. This new workflow provides a broader spectrum of available CAD/CAM options to clinicians who wish to offer in-office same-day crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers.
The IOS FastDesign™ system includes the FastDesign™ CAD software and the TS150™ in-office milling machine. iTero users who choose to implement the IOS FastDesign system will now have the option to mill same-day restorations in the office through a workflow that has been clinically proven at Glidewell Laboratories and verified by IOS Technologies. Glidewell Laboratories, an iTero partner since 2007, has processed more than 71,000 iTero scan files for fabrication of over 100,000 restorations.
"Extending the iTero intraoral scanner's chairside CAD/CAM workflows with a leader in digital restorative technology provides our clinicians with an experienced partner for their entry into chairside design and milling," said Timothy A. Mack, Align Technology's vice president, business development. "Offering certified connectivity with the FastDesign system demonstrates Align's ongoing commitment to innovation and expanding utility for the iTero intraoral scanner."
"The FastDesign system features patent-pending CAD software based on Glidewell Laboratories extensive experience with digital crown designs. The resulting crown proposals often require little to no manipulation by the dentist. This is all possible based on the high accuracy and excellent resolution coming from the iTero scanner," said David Casper, IOS Technologies president. "The TS150 mill employs an air driven 150,000 RPM spindle and utilizes a patented orbital milling strategy, which preserves the marginal integrity of the restoration leading to an excellent clinical result."
iTero and IOS Technologies certified connectivity and digital workflow is now available for iTero scanners in North America.
